Alexander Downer and a whole lot of common sense!

With a sound track that reminded me of Peter + Wolf but also reminded me of The Three Stooges, production sensibilities (some 60+ years later) from Honda and not having the benefit of the 3D effects, I reckon this is worth a look.

I went to see a preview of the Australian production of Avenue Q yesterday. It would be unfair to publish a review of a show that hasn't even opened but I will offer up a few random points...
  • Turn it over, it's cooked! It's ready! This did not look like any sort of preview. It was fantastic.
  • From the first words of the first song I was totally immersed in the puppet world and was not distracted in the slightest by the puppeteers
  • I had a reasonably mature 14-year-old with me and he was totally cool with the "adult" themes. Your Mileage May Vary™.
  • It was a sort of a teeth and boobs, belt out the songs and make 'em laugh show... without the teeth and boobs.
  • Finally, as with many modern Broadway shows, it is first and foremost a parody of its own genre.

Until this morning I had not seen these "literal" songs where they rewrite the words to match the video. It's hard to explain. Just have a look at Penny Lane.

This article manages to spell Shoaib Akhtar correctly but fails on electrofulguration.
All in all, though, as Tim Blair says, it provides way too much information.

Atlantis silhouetted against the sun with Hubble nearby. Amazing!
A how-to from the photographer.

I had never heard of Turkish Star Wars until today. I am currently about a third of the way through and it is excruciating. Let me know in comments if you make it all the way through.
UPDATE: I watched it so that you don't have to. At 1½ hours it's a pretty big ask.
It's a sort of a Muslim Kung Fu with early Dr Who production standards and bit's of Ep 4 ANH strewn throughout and Islam as The Force™. Oh, and Shintaro, the Samurai came to mind a bit as well.

Semi might have a bit more to add to this, he was more closely involved than me -- I was only involved very much on the periphery -- Charles Tingwell. Very much, from the Melbourne Theatre Community, Vale.

Chances are that Semi and I will be the only ones to appreciate(!) this, but Jeez, some folks are weird!

I went to see Star Trek - TNF (The New Fillum) yesterday and I absolutely loved it -- one of those "turn-around-and-go-back-in-again" fillums I thought.
But they should've done this I reckon.
Otherwise I reckon it was real good.
